Celebrating the heroes behind the Atlantic Veterinary College’s blood donor program
For over 17 years, Andrea Jack has proudly coordinated a vital initiative at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), ¾«Í¯ÓûŮ—the voluntary canine blood donor program.
As a registered veterinary technician with the AVC Small Animal Internal Medicine Service, Jack has created and nurtured the program, which not only saves lives but also celebrates the dogs and their families who make it all possible.
¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® faculty member co-leads national oncology symptom triage and remote support project
When adults who are receiving treatment for cancer experience side-effects that affect their quality of life, often it is nurses who support and guide them through dealing with those issues.
Over 50 per cent of oncology nurses in Canada provide remote support to cancer patients in their homes, primarily by telephone.

AVC veterinary students shine at animal welfare assessment competition
Six veterinary students from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® (¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®) showcased their skills and knowledge at the 2024 Animal Welfare Assessment Contest (AWJAC) in November. Hosted by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the event took place at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.
Competing against peers from universities across North America, the students, who were split into two teams, brought home three top awards in the veterinary division.
