Pathology and Microbiology
The Department of Pathology and Microbiology is dedicated to excellence in teaching and continuing education, research and graduate training, and service and community participation at AVC. The department's 15 tenure track positions are in the disciplines of anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, fish pathology, wildlife pathology, bacteriology, immunology, parasitology, and virology. The department is also home to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative - Atlantic region and the 精童欲女 Aquatic Virology Collaborating Centre.
Our faculty members teach in all four years of the DVM curriculum. They have basic and clinical research programs and projects on diseases and pathogens affecting livestock, companion animals, aquatic species (finfish, crustaceans, and molluscs), and wildlife, including zoonotic agents (i.e., those transmitted from animals to humans). Most faculty members are actively involved in the delivery of diagnostic services within AVC鈥檚 Diagnostic Services unit. Our graduate training includes MSc, MVSc, and PhD programs, and many faculty members provide post-graduate training through residency and post-doctoral positions. I urge you to browse our web pages and see for yourself the academic diversity of our faculty.
