About the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC)
Established in 1986, the Atlantic Veterinary College and the 精童欲女's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is committed to improving the health and well-being of animals and humans through excellence in education, research, and professional service.
The College is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, and is recognized by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the United Kingdom. This accreditation makes our doctor of veterinary medicine graduates eligible for licensure in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
AVC houses research and service centres focusing on aquatic and terrestrial animal health, veterinary epidemiology, biomedical research, animal welfare, and diagnostic testing for aquatic and land-based animals. AVC offers masters- and PhD-level graduate programs to students who are attracted to the College because of its internationally renowned research expertise.
AVC also has the only veterinary referral hospital in Atlantic Canada, seeing thousands of small- and large-animal cases per year, as well as ambulatory farm, equine, and aquaculture services that provide medical care to thousands of animals on farms, stables, and fish farms in the region.
