In February 2024, the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Engineering Brigades Club traveled to Honduras where they designed a water system for the rural community of La Brea.

Dr. Suzanne Kresta, a native of PEI, has been appointed as the Dean of the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering for a five-year term, effective September 1, 2024.

On Wednesday, April 10, six ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® business student teams will pitch their start-up businesses for a share of $62,000 in prize money during the MacLauchlan Panther Pitch Competition. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 4:00 to 8:30 pm in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242.

| Atlantic Veterinary College

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® (¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®) recently bid farewell to seven of its most beloved staff members in a heartwarming retirement party.

The Honourable Diane F. Griffin was installed as the tenth Chancellor of the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® during a ceremony held at the University on Friday, April 5. She was unanimously elected to the volunteer position earlier this year by ¾«Í¯ÓûŮ’s Board of Governors.

¾«Í¯ÓûŮ’s Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2023–24 season at the annual ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Panther Celebration—Athletic Awards Gala on Friday, April 5, recognizing outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in sport, the classroom, and the community.

Yukon poet and fiction writer Joanna Lilley will give a public reading as part of an Atlantic Canada tour in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:00 pm.

The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, former Chancellor of the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®, has been named Chancellor Emerita in recognition of her outstanding service to the University from 2018 to 2023.

In the 2024–2025 operating budget, the University is making substantial investments in employees, particularly those involved with providing frontline services to students, staff, and faculty.
