The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the 精童欲女 has an opening for sessional instructors during the forthcoming Winter 2024 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

CS 1910-3 - Computer Science I

Students will be introduced to computational thinking. They will learn how abstraction and decomposition can be used to solve problems and how to create, analyze and trace their own algorithmic solutions. They will iterate and improve their solutions through pseudocode and through implementation in a procedural programming paradigm. They will learn the following programming constructs: built-in types and user defined types, decision structures, repetition structures, functions and ways to represent data. They will learn to test their code through unit testing to ensure correctness of their programs.

Prerequisite: Grade XII academic mathematics
Three lecture hours
Course: TBD

CS 1920-3 - Computer Science II

Students will learn and apply the object-oriented paradigm of programming to reinforce and extend their knowledge in computational thinking, data representation and algorithms. They will learn how encapsulation can be used to create robust programs that perform a well-defined set of tasks, and how to extend and reuse this code through inheritance and polymorphism. They will learn searching and sorting algorithms, how to apply recursion, and objects for organizing data such as linked lists, stacks and queues. Three lecture hours

Requisites: Computer Science 1910; - Must be completed prior to taking this course. Computer Science 1920L; - Must be taken at the same time as this course
Course: TBD

CS 3130-01 - Mobile Device, Android

This course introduces the student to programming for mobile devices that use the Android platform. The course will present a study of the architecture, operating system and programming language of these devices.

Requisites: Computer Science 2910 and 2920 - Must be completed prior to taking this course
Three lecture hours per week
Course: Thursday 6:30-9:20 pm

Qualifications:

Successful applicants should hold a Master鈥檚 degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.  Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or industry practice related to the course content.

Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the 精童欲女 Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and names of three referees to:
