Sessional Instructor - Environmental Studies Program - Faculty of Science (Fall 2023)
The Environmental Studies Program at the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® has an opening for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course in the Fall 2023 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
ENV 2420 – Society and Natural Resources
This course examines the development, use and conservation of natural resources. It explores the definition of natural resources, the history of resource use, governance regimes, and theories and practices around integrated resource planning and management, ecosystem management, adaptive management, conflict resolution approaches, local knowledge and public participation. Case studies explore recent trends in forestry, fisheries, agriculture, parks and recreation, wildlife, and water resources management.
Classes: Monday 2:30 pm – 5:20 pm
Three semester hours of credit
Qualifications:
Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in an environmental or related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience in the subject area for the course. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or practice related to the course content.
Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
