Electrician - Department of Facilities Management

The Department of Facilities Management is seeking applicants for an Electrician position. This position works to ensure the University鈥檚 electrical systems are maintained in safe and operational acceptable condition. This position ensures that installation, maintenance, repairs and renovations of electrical systems are performed to all applicable standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance of power distribution systems
- Replacement or repair of defective underground lines, power poles, fixtures, lamps etc.
- Assist in maintenance of fire alarm and security systems
- Maintenance of motor starters and pump controls for heating systems
- Installation or replacement of cables, wiring, outlets, switches, lights etc.
- Informing Foreman of required electrical materials and inventory
- Installation of cables for telephone and or computer systems
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order of Electrical Shop
- Responsible for clean-up of job site, during and at completion of work
- Ability to trouble shoot building automation and controls
- Other duties as assigned by the Foreman
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 education diploma is required
- Four (4) years electrical apprenticeship training
- Five (5) years as a journeyman electrician
- Interprovincial Electrician License
- Six (6) years work experience in the electrical field, including experience working with high voltage
- Valid drivers license
