The Writing Centre is looking for Student Assistants to work up to 15 hours per week during the 2024-25 school year, with time off during exam periods.

Shifts may include weekend or evening hours and both online and in-person tutoring. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, as well as students from a range of disciplines, including business, engineering, the arts, and the sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing Centre Student Assistants primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students from all disciplines, supporting them in their writing and research. Other duties may include the following:

  • Class visits, online or in-person, to promote the Writing Centre
  • Administrative tasks
  • Special writing initiatives
  • Student Assistants work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report) and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong writing skills and a passion for writing
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed, or are in the process of completing, courses designated as writing intensive
  • Applicants should also be in good academic standing at the time of applying and during their tenure as Student Assistant
  • Experience working with additional language learners is an asset

Priority will be given to ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
