The 精童欲女 (精童欲女), which is located on the unceded land of the Mi鈥檏maq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk, invites applications to the Department of Physics for consideration for a ten-month term position in Physics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to commence July 1, 2022. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval. The successful applicants will be encouraged to apply for a tenure-track position which the Department is seeking approval for in 2023.

Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in physics, a research focus in experimental biological physics or related field, and relevant postdoctoral experience. Teaching experience at various levels of undergraduate physics, demonstrated ability to engage undergraduates in research, and experience in pivoting or adapting to on-line teaching would be strong assets.

The Department of Physics at 精童欲女 has an enthusiastic and active faculty, with vibrant research profiles and dedication to undergraduate teaching and training. We offer Physics Major, Honours, and Minor programs, including specializations in Medical and Biological Physics, and Co-operative education options. There are also interdisciplinary M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in Molecular and Macromolecular Sciences. The Department is housed in a modern teaching and research facility, opened in 2016, and is well equipped with modern instrumentation.

The Department of Physics is committed to undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate will be expected to be able to teach courses at all levels of the undergraduate physics programs, including undergraduate laboratory courses.

The Department is in the process of implementing a strategic plan which will strengthen its focus on programming and research in biological physics. The applicant is therefore expected to detail how they could develop a vigorous research program in experimental biological physics which would: (1) have the potential to attract external funding, (2) be suitable for involving undergraduate students: and (3) complement the Department鈥檚 existing strengths in experimental and computational biological physics.

For more information, please see the departmental web page at .

Application Instructions:

Completed applications will consist of a curriculum vitae, a research proposal (using the NSERC Discovery Grant format of a 5-page research proposal plus a 1 page highly qualified personnel training plan), a statement of the applicant鈥檚 teaching philosophy and experience, and a one-page statement on how the applicant will implement the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in their teaching, research, service, and scholarly work.  Applicants must also arrange for letters from three referees to be sent directly to the email address below.
