Dr. Terri Jackson is looking for a graduate student to assist with a project which explores the use of Assistive Technology in public schools on Prince Edward Island. This research will explore the strengths, resources, and needs existing in Prince Edward Island schools at present regarding assistive technology using a landscape analysis approach. The landscape analysis aims to highlight the needs of the community and ensure future research aligns with community needs.   

The primary activities of the successful candidate will involve conducting a scoping review of literature surrounding assistive technology. The student will also engage in some primary research, including site visits at schools and survey analysis using a deductive thematic analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weekly meetings with supervisor to discuss progress 
  • Conduct a scoping review of the literature surrounding assistive technology 
  • Collaborate in research in public schools and analysis data with supervisor 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in English for academic purposes, and adjust writing based on mentoring and editing from supervisor
  • Skilled at attending to detail in research and writing 
  • Interest in inclusive education and assistive technology 
  • Access to transportation to school sites, as needed

This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®. Priority will be given to ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® students.
