As a crucial member of the Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre (CLSC) team, the High-Fidelity Simulation Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in facilitating the high-fidelity simulation curriculum delivery. Reporting to the High-Fidelity Simulation Program Manager, the High-Fidelity Simulation Assistant Manager is responsible for the delivery of simulation curriculum. In this role, the Simulation Assistant Manager works with multiple internal and external stakeholders and applies their expertise in experiential education to support the direction and development of a comprehensive criterion-based framework for simulation. 

The High-Fidelity Simulation Assistant Manager supports and mentor's clinical experts/educators across the continuum of care by providing expertise for the design, validation and evaluation of the curriculum and training in simulation. They will also liaise with collaborative disciplines utilizing the center to facilitate a simulation-based curriculum. The High-Fidelity Simulation Assistant Manager plays an instrumental role in supporting the integration of simulation within healthcare. 

In this role, the High-Fidelity Simulation Assistant Manager facilitates the delivery of simulation and process improvement, supports the implementation of new simulation methodologies, and facilitates communication with faculty, educators, and students regarding simulation scenarios. They are responsible for ensuring that all simulation programs are delivered to meet the unique needs of healthcare professionals, align with best practices, and promote continuous quality improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work both independently and as a team of simulation coordinators responsible for implementing effective methodologies to medical students and other allied health professionals
  • With minimal supervision, be responsible for delivering simulation programs to ensure that they meet education objectives
  • Provide operational, logistical, and administrative support for the CLSC staff and users
  • Acting as a liaison between the Program Manager, clinical educators, and simulation teams across various disciplines and sites
  • Playing a key role in implementing new methodologies to enhance the delivery of simulation services within the CLSC
  • Implementing special simulation education sessions such as pre-briefings, debriefings, professional development, and process improvement education (CHSE)
  • Coordinating simulation sessions around equipment availability, equipment inventory and organizing simulation center supplies
  • Assist with faculty development and training related to the use of high-fidelity mannequin simulation and programs
  • Maintaining professional skills and staying current with national and international advances in simulation pedagogy
  • Understanding and ensuring maintenance of all equipment used in the simulation center, including software and simulation equipment
  • Performing other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in health-care provider field and/or 5 years of experience in health care education, simulation, or process improvement
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and time management skills are required
  • Excellent analytical thinking is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, is required
  • Experience in health care education would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems would be considered an asset
  • Training and experience delivering healthcare learning programs such as ACLS, PALS, and ATLS is an asset
  • Completion of Certification in Simulation Education would be required within two years of hire
  • Experience with regional health authority would be considered an asset.
