Sessional Instructor - Department of Physics - Faculty of Science (Summer 2024)
The Department of Physics has the following openings for sessional instructors for the upcoming Summer 2024 Semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
PHYS 1210-01 – Physics for Life Sciences I (Online)
This course is intended for life science and health science students. Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts of physics and some of their applications to biological systems. Topics include vectors, kinematics, force, energy and power, torque, linear and angular momentum, and fluid mechanics.
Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory or tutorial per week
Sessional contract is for Lecture only.
Summer Session I: May 6, 2024 to June 18, 2024
PHYS 1220-01 - Physics for Life Sciences II (Online)
This course is a continuation of Physics 1210 intended for students in the life sciences, introducing additional physics concepts with emphasis on their application to biology. Topics include properties of waves, acoustics and hearing, optics and vision, thermodynamics, and basic electricity and magnetism.
Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory or tutorial per week
Sessional contract is for Lecture only.
Summer Session II: June 24, 2024 – August 6, 2024
Qualifications:
Successful applicants will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in physics or a related area.
Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
