Dr. Fathi Darrag, Chair of the Department of English, Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, and visiting professor to 精童欲女 will be giving a special presentation on the lead up to the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, entitled 鈥2011: A Year of Revolutionary Theatre in Egypt.鈥
The presentation will focus on world peoples and politicians鈥 reaction to the Revolution and the role of social media and the internet in hastening the collapse of the Mubarak regime. A special focus on the vital role of the Egyptian Theatre during the Revolution along with the timeline of the revolution from Day 1, namely, January 25 to the step down of Mubarak on February 11, 2011.
The presentation will provide the framework for an academic discussion on the launching of the Revolution as well as the Egyptian socio-cultural and political discourse in the post January Revolution.
