The 精童欲女 is seeking a Chief Access and Privacy Officer who plays lead roles in the development and implementation of processes and systems for privacy management; administration of requests for access to information about the university鈥檚 functions; and coordination of privacy, records management and personal information security programs and initiatives.  The purpose of the position is to enable the university to meet its commitments in the realms of privacy and access. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant, reporting to the Vice President Administration and Finance will provide the following:

  • Delivery and execution of the University鈥檚 Access to Information and Protection of Personal Information and Privacy policy
  • Accountable for the education of university staff on access to information and privacy
  • Represent the University in interactions following an access request or privacy complaint
  • Provide leadership in working with those responsible for records management, information security and information systems to coordinate activities and plans and achieve university-wide personal information management
  • Promote and assure compliance with the Access to Information and Protection of Personal Information and Privacy policy
  • Propose, implement and coordinate privacy-related policy, procedure, guidelines, forms and tools at the University.  Develop best practices, guidelines and protocols in relation to the management of personal information to support the activities and programs across campus
  • Receive and investigate reports of privacy incidents and complaints, recommend action, prepare reports, and make recommendations for mitigation and follow-up. Receive and evaluate applications, work with applicants to better define requests, liaise with relevant university departments and units, make recommendations to the appropriate university head and anticipate issues related to access and privacy and recommend effective solutions
  • Lead the university鈥檚 response to reports of privacy breaches
  • Initiate, deliver and promote training and educational activities to foster privacy awareness and good privacy practices.  Review and provide advice to departments and units concerning the completion of privacy impact analysis on new and review initiatives, applications, infrastructure and programs that collect, store, use, disclose or destroy personal information in accordance with University policy, procedures and guidelines
  • Supervise of one or more staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Laws degree.  A recognized professional privacy certificate would be considered a definite asset
  • A minimum of five years experience in public administration and information access and privacy protection in a university, governmental or other large organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current laws and regulations, as well as experience conducting investigations in response to privacy complaints or privacy breaches
  • Demonstrated judgment, analysis and decision-making skills in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters
  • The position requires considerable organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities and demonstrated, superior attention to detail.  The successful applicants honors commitments by tracking projects and meeting timelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and report-writing are necessary 
  • Knowledge of and experience in IT security and information are desirable.
