Tenure Track Position - School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences - Faculty of Science
The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the 精童欲女 invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor.
We welcome outstanding candidates from all areas of computer science and especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups in mathematics and computing fields. The successful applicant is expected to teach broadly across our Computer Science program, maintain a comprehensive research program that includes the supervision of students, contribute to the further development of curriculum, and fulfill service obligations to both the School and the University. Finally, the successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at 精童欲女 consists of nineteen professors and two instructors, and offers programs in Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, and Video Game Programming. The School has over 500 undergraduate students and a small but growing graduate student population. The School is currently in a period of growth, with the addition of new faculty, the development of graduate programs, and increased collaboration with local industry.
About 精童欲女:
The 精童欲女 (精童欲女) is located on Epekwitk, part of the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaw nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which recognize Mi'kmaw title and establish the ongoing relationship between the Mi'kmaw nation and the Crown.
The 精童欲女 campus is in the provincial capital of Charlottetown, a bustling tourist destination that includes the amenities of a much larger city, including excellent theatre, galleries, music, and dining possibilities. A province-wide hiking and biking trail runs right along the 精童欲女 campus, and the National Park beaches are a short drive away. Charlottetown and its surrounding communities offer a low crime rate, and a semi-rural lifestyle that is second-to-none.
The 精童欲女 offers a flexible working environment, and full-time faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including group life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental health, travel insurance, pension, and long-term disability insurance. The University has wellness centre and sports centre, as well as the Bell Aliant Recreational Centre, which includes a pool and ice rinks, on campus.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to teaching excellence
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Full-time permanent faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefits package including group life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental health, travel insurance, pension, and long-term disability insurance. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
